Korea's job-seeking benefit (구직급여)
If you lose your job involuntarily (dismissal, contract expiry, closure, or a justified resignation such as unpaid wages) after at least 180 insured days in the last 18 months, you can receive 60% of your average daily wage, within the daily cap and floor, for 120 to 270 days.
Can foreigners receive it?
- F-2, F-5, F-6 visa holders are covered by employment insurance the same way as Korean nationals.
- Many other work visas are covered only if you (or your employer) enrolled voluntarily; check your payslip for employment insurance deductions.
- For E-9 and H-2 workers, the job-seeking benefit generally does not apply.
Apply at your local Employment Center within 12 months of leaving, after registering on Work24. Interpretation is available by calling 1350.
Rates and thresholds follow Korean rules in force for 2026. Results are estimates for planning, not legal or tax advice.
