Compound growth in plain numbers

Compounding means returns earn their own returns. The rule of 72 gives a quick check: divide 72 by the annual return to get the years needed to double (7% → about 10 years).

In Korea, interest from deposits is taxed at 15.4%. Accounts such as ISA and pension savings (연금저축, IRP) defer or reduce that tax, which noticeably changes the long-run result. Investment returns are not guaranteed; use conservative rates for planning.
