What is unused leave pay?
Money paid for annual leave you couldn't use within a year. It arises the day after the leave-use period (1 year after accrual) ends, and when you quit, all remaining leave is settled.
Unused leave pay = daily ordinary wage × unused leave days
When you may not get it
If the company properly carried out leave-use promotion under Article 61 of the Labor Standards Act (e.g. written notice 6 months before the period ends) and you still didn't use it, no pay may arise.
Does it affect severance?
Unused leave pay received in the year before you quit counts toward the severance average wage at 3/12. The final leave pay settled on quitting isn't included.
