How rehabilitation payments are calculated

Monthly payment = monthly income − recognized living costs

Courts usually recognize 60% of the median income for your household size as basic living costs, and may recognize more for high housing, medical or education costs.

FAQ

How much does individual rehabilitation cost?

Court costs such as stamp and service fees run to a few hundred thousand won; lawyer or legal scrivener fees are separate. With low income, you can get help from the Korea Legal Aid Corporation.

How much debt is reduced?

Total debt minus what you repay over the period is discharged (forgiven). The lower your income, the higher the share forgiven.
